The Next Game
Four stages. How I work with the principals of the country's most successful advisory firms โ and what a decade of it actually looks like.
Why This Isn't A Program
Every coaching program in this industry is built on the same assumption: the client has a problem, the problem creates urgency, and the curriculum gives the urgency somewhere to go.
You don't have a problem. You have a plateau โ and a plateau generates no urgency at all. Nothing external will move you. That's what makes it a plateau.
So the work can't be a curriculum. It has to be a person who knows what you're capable of, has seen 2,500 versions of your situation, and won't let you settle for the game you've already won.
THE FOUR STAGES
01 ยท THE SCORECARD
An honest read on the game you already won.
We take your business apart on paper. Revenue quality, not just revenue. Enterprise value, not just AUM. What the firm costs to run in money, in your time, and in your attention. Where your capacity is sitting idle. Then the harder half: what you've stopped being willing to look at.
You leave with: a clear-eyed valuation of the current game, and an explicit statement of what it can no longer produce.
02 ยท THE NEXT GAME
The 10-year vision. Not goals โ a game.
A goal in the current game is to play harder โ more clients, more AUM, more offices. A new game changes what winning means. Most principals can't answer this in the first sitting; that's the point. We work on it until you can state it without notes.
You leave with: a defined ten-year game you chose yourself, that you can articulate in one sentence, and that you actually want.
Why it precedes planning: build the plan first, and the vision becomes a justification for the plan โ my idea, not yours. You won't spend ten years executing my idea.
03 ยท THE PLAYBOOK
The custom game plan. Timeline, owners, deliverables.
Built backward from the game you chose. Not a template โ a sequence specific to your firm, market, team, and decade. This is where 32 years of pattern recognition get pointed at one situation: yours.
You leave with: a sequenced plan with dates, owners, and defined deliverables โ and a clear view of the first ninety days.
04 ยท THE NEXT VERSION
Becoming the person who can play the new game.
The firm can be redesigned on paper in a quarter. You're the constraint. Your habits, standards, delegation instincts, and tolerance for discomfort โ all optimized for a game that's now over. Some of it has to go. This runs continuously underneath the other three.
You leave withย a principal who has changed, not just a firm that has.
05 HOW WE ACTUALLY WORK (the engagement)
The four stages describe the arc. Here's what you actually get.
Private Strategy Sessions โ Direct one-on-one sessions with me: 60-minute deep dives and 30-minute focused execution calls. Each one is a pressure test of your assumptions, an identification of the real bottleneck, and a concrete plan. You leave with clarity, not ideas. What we work on evolves: identity and mindset first, then team design and delegation, then enterprise strategy and legacy.
A Personal Integration & Accountability Coach โ Transformation fails at execution. You get a dedicated execution partner who meets with you regularly, holds you to the plan, and helps you push through the resistance that shows up when someone is asked to change. The bridge between the strategy session and Tuesday morning.
911/411 Direct Access โ Your next decade doesn't happen on a schedule. 911 is real-time problem-solving for urgent situations. 411 is the proactive check-in that keeps momentum from leaking. A direct line, not a ticket queue.
Private Office Hours โ Unstructured time between sessions. Bring the compensation conversation, the hire you're evaluating, and the marketing decision. Immediate answers, no waiting.
The Written Game Plan โ A comprehensive strategic document built for your business, typically 30+ pages: the written Reality Check, your 10-year / 3-year / 1-year vision, four to six prioritized initiatives with owners and deadlines, scripts for the hard conversations ahead, and a 90-day sprint structure with milestones.
Access โ 24/7/365. Your most differentiated term; state it plainly.
Duration โ There isn't a graduation date. My average client relationship runs for more than a decade; several have run for more than 30 years. Not a lock-in โ nobody's contractually trapped. It's what happens when the work keeps regenerating, because every game you win raises the question of the next one.
Capacity โ I work with a limited number of principals at a time. That isn't positioning, it's arithmetic โ the access model doesn't scale, and I've never wanted it to.
ย
YOU'RE NOT DOING THIS ALONE
The room matters as much as the coach.ย
There's a limit to what any one relationship can do. The other thing that changes a principal is the people around them โ a room of peers operating at the same altitude, facing the same questions, with no reason to posture.
So the work isn't only one-to-one. You also join a mastermind of principals who've won their own version of the game and are choosing what's next. Not a support group. A room of people who hold each other to the standard, share what's actually working, and make it impossible to quietly settle.
Direct coaching gives you the plan. The room keeps you from drifting away.
